Hawwaam Hits Ground Running at Nationals

Hawwaam's debut as a stallion at the 2024 National Yearling Sale was nothing short of impressive, with his progeny fetching remarkable prices.

The yearlings by Hawwaam commanded attention, with sales reaching up to R5 million, totaling an impressive aggregate of R8.325 million across eight lots.Their average price of R1.040625 million surpassed notable stallions like Gimmethegreenlight, Rafeef, What A Winter, and Querari.

Leading the pack was Sparkling Rose (Lot 129), a colt consigned by Wilgerbosdrift, which was acquired by the Hollywood Syndicate for a hefty R5 million, securing its place as the third top lot of the sale. Other yearlings by Hawwaam also performed well, fetching prices ranging from R800,000 to R475,000.

Additionally, the influence of Hawwaam's exceptional dam, Halfway To Heaven, was evident at the sale. A Vercingetorix three-part brother to Hawwaam, named Rainbow Crossing, was snapped up by SRB Plattner Farming for R2.8 million. Notably, Rainbow Crossing shares his lineage with the likes of 2020-2021 Horse Of The Year Rainbow Bridge and dual G1 winner Golden Ducat, highlighting the pedigree's exceptional quality.

Halfway To Heaven's offspring have consistently demonstrated commercial success, with sales reaching as high as R7 million, further solidifying her reputation as a prized broodmare in the industry.
